ANYONE Can Become President in America! |
|
By Prudence Whitemore Is this not what we have been taught in school in America? Well at least it was in the era preceeding this one, but I am not so sure it has been taught in schools where there is less racial and/or cultural diversity. For instance in the Native American schools have they been taught to aspire to the presidency? Hmmmm probably not. Since most Native Americans are living on reservations that are still like the 'third world counties'; still having their land stolen, children poisoned, experiencing lack of medical care, good food and much more. God forbid one of 'them' would become president, then things would drastically change. In areas where there is any preponderance in the schools of any one 'group' I would imagine they are not having the job of presidency dangled in front of them. Most of them are just depressed and drop out of school, not even finishing high school, for they see no future in front of them. They look at their parents, friends, and family and see, more really then any polititician does, what governmental policies have done. There are 'those' who are very afraid of the illegal Mexicans and the promise of legality because the population has become so large, that their voting rights are putting those of Mexican descent into office. We have seen this in this lifetime. The fear, of course is that 'they' are going to be favored in rules and regulations over others. Everyone has heard or seen the claims that so much of America did belong to Mexico and they are taking it back. That is possibly one of the 'fears' of those opposed to Obama, fear that his African heritage will 'color' his decisions and make choices that will favor his racial tendencies. For people who already have that fear, either from prejudice or personal experiences with blacks, this fear which exhibits as 'anger' and 'hate' is coming to the surface. That is why Obama had better have more protection then President Bush has had. There is even a deeper 'trigger' in the consciousness and attacks and inuendos from others are making this more extreme. Barrak has so much more sense of calmness, of a presidential appearance then his opponent, that 'that factor' in itself is an irritant to some. Then there are those who are against Palin, no matter what her qualifications are or aren't, just because she is a woman, and those who are 'for' her because she is a woman! She can't win for losing! We won't even get into platforms here, (by the way Sarah, we are not talking about shoes). It is very intriguing to sit back and watch the Presidential drama show, and believe me it is a show, Barnum and Baily couldn't have put on a show to compare with this race to the finish line. Americans are glued to their tv sets/computers/radios/newspapers to find out just who is dissing who and how down and dirty can they get? This is the ''soap opera' generation remember. This is when there is no privacy, no respect, and every little bit of a person's life is open for review. "Let the mudslinging begin". The rest of the world must have lost all confidence in America's example of 'democracy (which was really set up as a republic). We have no sense of credulity left. If there are countries out there who would like us to curl up and go away, it is understandable. We set ourselves up as judge, jury and executioner of all countries, big or small and we do have weapons of mass destruction and do use them on others and on our own people. What a deal! One of the questions that the American voting public 'should be' asking themselves, is why each one or any of these people want to be president of the United States? Hey, can we please give them tests on basic history, do they know what the Declaration of Independence says, and the Constitution? Do any of them believe in the basic rights that these documents set down as the founding of our country and why? I wouldn't want to be president, would you? Every person who becomes President is faced with the most daunting responsibility imaginable in the world. Every president ages 20 years after taking the office. Look at pictures of GW as he first stepped in and now. His face is etched in lines, his hair grayer, he looks like a man so over-burdened by life, that there is not much life left in him. No matter whether you like him or not, agree with him or not, it is clear life has not been easy on him. We see the same in ex-President Clinton, his health has suffered and he is certainly not the man he was, even after he left. There are pictoral examples of changes in handwriting of different presidents, changing from the beginning to the end of their offices. Some analysists point to health problems that show up in the handwriting too. It appears that John McCain, from the scuttlebutt on his health, past and present, might not have much longer to live, and his challenges is affecting him now in ways upon which we dare not take a chance. Why, with this looming over him, would he even aspire to the presidency, what is in it for him, and how can he make promises to the public that he knows he won't be able to keep. If he becomes president, it is very clear that Sarah Palin, in all her public speaking glory will be leading a nation in desperate straits. It is said she took a lovely little woodsy town and destroyed it, putting in a Walmart and a sports stadium, carving over so many trees in a parking lot that can't even be filled there. Is this a good example of what she would plan for America? Did she see "Field of Dreams" too many times? .....Build it and they will come. Does she really think she is following "God's Plan"? Dangerous territory, that. Isn't that what President Bush was claiming, that "God" spoke to him and that has led us into a disasterous holocaust for the Iraqi's, Afghani's, and has weakened and destroyed our military base? Our country is in an extreme state of emergency financially, and yet, they keep asking for more money for more war, and bailing out the crooks that got us here in the first place? We want someone in office that also thinks they are a 'savior'? I sure haven't seen anyone but Criss Angel walking on water, and no one is promoting him for President. Where did Barack get his backing for his schooling, for his senate races, for his bid for Presidency. There seem to be many shadowy figures in the background here, inudendos are flying. There are also questions to his allegances in many areas. What is his voting record? It has been said that many times he just voted that he was present, but no yeah or nay, why is that? Does he not have obligations from his constituency to represent them and participate in the process, and follow the desires of 'the people' who put him there? What is that all about? Where does the buck stop? There are serious questions about the birth of Barack, was he born in Kenya or Hawaii? Why was this not brought up years ago and dealt with so this would not or could not be an issue now? It is conceivable right now that he could win the presidency or it could come out right before the election that he is not ellilgble, then would the election go to McCain by default? Would Biden become president in his stead? What is the plan? Is there a plan? What are the contingencies, or are there any? Now we go to past presidents, oh my, how many truths have come up in this past 50 years about this president or that president, his affairs, their hidden agendas, their achievements and their failures that we didn't know about. We have found that they weren't perfect and in many cases not even close to the 'Presidential' prescence that we have honored and proudly spoke their names. There are secrets hidden in their closets that may not ever be known.
