Mysterious Creatures
A giant sea monster, the likes of the mythological kraken, may have swum Earth's ancient oceans, snagging what was thought to be the sea's top predators — school bus-size ichthyosaurs with fearsome teeth. The kraken, which would've been nearly 100 feet (30 meters) long, or twice the size of the colossal squid, Mesonychoteuthis, likely drowned or broke the necks of the ichthyosaurs before dragging the corpses to its lair, akin to an octopus's midden, according to study researcher Mark McMenamin, a paleontologist at Mount Holyoke College in Massachusetts. It is one thing to receive reports of a strange creature – whether Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, or the Chupacabra – seen in one particular locale. But it’s quite another thing entirely to get multiple reports of several different unidentified beasts from one clearly delineated area! And, yet, within the field of Cryptozoology, that’s precisely what we see on numerous occasions.

This is a Discovery Channel Special, featuring Idaho State University Professor of Anatomy, Dr. Jeff Meldrum and Canadian wildlife biologist, Dr. John Bindernagel. Both scientists take the reports and evidence of "bigfoot" seriously. Although Dr. Bindernagel has recorded over 200 bigfoot eyewitness accounts, there are over 2,000 such reports from across North America. Dr. John Bindernagel says here, "I accept the sasquatch as an existing North American mammal...People encounter sasquatches, if not on a weekly basis in North America, at least once a month." The greatest concentrations of sightings are in the northwestern coast and mountain ranges of the US and western Canada. Dr. Meldrum at the University of Idaho is of the opinion that the fossil remains of an ancient giant ape called Gigantopithecus may one day be proven to be the ancestor of the elusive bigfoot of today. The only Gigantopithecus fossils found so far have been in Asia, consisting of teeth and jawbones.

Move over, Montauk Monster. Step aside, Nessie. There's a new sea creature in town--maybe. Footage of a 20- to 30-foot long creature caught on tape by fishermen suggest we have an Alaska bonafide marine-creature mystery. The black and white footage from 2009 is by no means definitive. It is taken on a rainy day with a shaky camera, which make it all the more confounding. But you can check out the testimony of people who say they witnessed the creature's appearance in the video above. The Alaska-dwelling creature has been labeled a "Cadborosaurus willsi," which means "reptile" or "lizard" from Cadboro Bay, British Columbia, where it was originally spotted centuries ago. Called "Caddy" for short, it has a "long neck, a horse-like head, large eyes, and back bumps that stick out of the water," according to a report on MSNBC.

The fossilized skull of a gigantic sea monster that attacked and ate whales was unearthed in an ancient seabed along the arid wilderness of the Peruvian coast.
The remains of the incredible creature are so huge, researchers have dubbed it "the Leviathan."
The Leviathan, a terrifying behemoth of the deep, is described in the Bible's Old Testament. The Hebrews called it one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper. Those that observed it in the waters far offshore claimed the horrible thing was the most terrifying creature in existence.

Located just outside of central London, England is a large and impressive building known as the National Archive. It serves as a repository for declassified and still-classified files from the British Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, Army and the British equivalents of the FBI, CIA, Department of Defense, and National Security Agency.
As well as the strictly down-to-earth material, however, intriguing files have surfaced demonstrating that a whole variety of official bodies within the British Government have taken a deep and keen interest in tales of sea-serpents.
One of the most notable reports of an encounter with such a beast of truly monstrous proportions, and that attracted the keen attention of elements of the British Government, can be found within the official archives of the Admiralty. The documentation at issue details the remarkable encounter with a sea-serpent that was seen on May 9, 1830 by the crew of the Rob Roy: a British Royal Navy ship that was homeward bound after a lengthy sea-journey across the Atlantic Ocean.

A famous film of the Loch Ness Monster has resurfaced. Long dismissed as a hoax, the vintage footage of the elusive beast has suddenly gained new respectability thanks to the son of the man who originally caught the monster with his camera.
None other than a retired police officer, Mr. Simon Dinsdale, has come forward to declare that the footage of the world-famous creature recorded by his father half a century ago is the real thing.

Sightings abound of a four-legged, hairless, fanged monster that kills and sucks the blood, and sometimes milk, from livestock in the United States and Latin America. Its name chupacabra literally means "goat sucker."
There is, in fact, a real monster behind the sightings, but it has eight legs, measures at most 0.02 inches long and burrows into skin, rather than sucking blood. Its name: Sarcoptes scabiei, the mite that causes scabies in humans … and coyotes.

On October 31 – appropriately Halloween, of course - a team from the British-based Center for Fortean Zoology (CFZ) will be embarking upon a truly ambitious expedition to the Garo Hills of Northern India in search of legendary, hairy, man-like beasts know as the Mande-burung – or, in simpler terminology, the Indian equivalents of the United States’ Bigfoot and the Abominable Snowman of Tibet. The 5-man team will be led by Adam Davies – the author of the monster-hunting-themed book, Extreme Expeditions – and will also consist of Dr Chris Clark, Dave Archer, field naturalist John McGowan, and cryptozoologist Richard Freeman; the latter a former keeper at England’s Twycross Zoo and the author of the book,Dragons: More Than A Myth.

When Barry entered a road intersection he would slew the turret to one side or the other to check for targets. At one intersection Barry looked to the right and the Bradley turned into that trail. As he scanned the track he “observed something come out of the vegetation” 50 yards away, crossing from right to left and entering the brush on the opposite side. It crossed the 15-20 foot wide lane in three easy strides, not hurrying. The creature completely ignored the approaching tank, keeping its head and torso looking straight ahead.
Barry, who had long trained with night vision equipment, could distinguish clothing, hair, and equipment on humans, and estimate their height. This entity “appeared through the thermal sight to be one constant color from head to foot,” which told him it wore no clothes. The being was seven to eight feet tall.
