With gas prices at an all-time high, people need to make a bigger push for alternatives to oil. The company, JBI Inc., invented an innovative machine for turning plastic into oil that could make dependency on foreign oil a thing of the past.

For the first time, a federal report has verified that chemicals used in natural gas hydraulic fracturing, also known as "fracking," can, and do, cause groundwater contamination. New Boom Reshapes Oil World, Rocks North Dakota, 9/25/11
An Exxon Mobil pipeline that runs under the Yellowstone River in Montana ruptured Friday night and leaked for about a half-hour. The New York Times reported that the over 120 residents in the town of Laurel, downstream from the rupture, had to be evacuated because officials feared a possible explosion. Exxon said it had no information on the cause of the incident, which originated from a 12-inch pipeline that runs from Silver Tip to refineries in Billings. The amount of oil that leaked is still being determined. The Billings Gazette reported that the company had dispatched local cleanup teams with absorbent pads to leach up oil from the riverbanks. Exxon's Global Response Team is being sent from Houston.

Brazil's state oil company is planning to do away with offshore oil drilling platforms and replace them with automated "underwater cities" that extract oil. In what could prove to be one of the most ambitious industrial projects ever undertaken, Petrobras is drawing up plans to place giant machinery and robots 6,000 feet under the sea floor, with humans controlling the oil-drilling "city" remotely, the Telegraph reports. The underwater city would be capable of separating oil from sand and water, and even generating its own energy.

I've been noticing a lot of talk in the media, in the US government and amongst our crowd (gold/silver bugs) about the sky high price of oil and what we can do about it. I am begging the friends of gold and silver to read chapters 29 and 30 of John Perkins book "The Secret History of the American Empire".
Perkins very clearly explains how the US Dollar was taken off the "gold standard" and put on the "oil standard" implemented by Kissinger, Shultz and Cheney back in 1971.
Most of us now know (or at least have the suspicion) that the prices of most commodities are rigged by computer programs run through the banking cabal and orchestrated by the Federal Reserve New York office. OIL is no exception. It is more than likely that oil is 100% controlled by a computer trading program run by the banking cabal and friends inside the US Government. Just like gold and silver, the oil supply/demand characteristics are not relevant to a manipulated, false price that can be set and steered by a few digital entries in a computer trading program. The US will continue to hide it's huge oil reserves in "national parks", "nature preserves" and "ecologically sensitive areas" as well as suppress any fuel alternatives (such as the electric car or hydrogen from water) that would circumvent the need for high priced oil until the US Dollar "oil standard" is abandoned.

Al Gore gets his knickers in a knot about global warming and carbon emissions, two propositions that are dubious at best.
He splices video of polar bears swimming in the Arctic as proof the world is melting down "due to carbon."
Well, polar bear populations are up in some places and carbon dioxide happens to be food for plants.
But one thing that is indisputable is the calculated maliciousness of oil companies in Third World countries and the fact that crude oil and its fuel by-products are highly toxic.
No mystery here, except these particular "inconvenient truths" don't merit mention in the US news media or in Gore's documentary for that matter.
Could the fact that the Gore family owns a piece of Occidental Petroleum, a company that wants to drill elsewhere in Latin America have anything to do with that?
Real problem with oil is not carbon

Facts: Scientific and historical about gasoline and alcohol
1. The original automobiles ran on alcohol because when they were invented gasoline was not available.
2. Rockefeller spent $4 million (that we know of) to promote Prohibition, a ban on alcohol manufacturing in the US that started in 1919 just as the car industry was taking off.
3. When Prohibition was lifted in 1933, gasoline stations were ubiquitous and most engines ran on gasoline only.
4. Alcohol can be manufactured locally and on a community level from renewable plant material for $1 per gallon.
5. The growing of plant material for alcohol would have no effect on the price of food.
6. The growing of plants for fuel would more than neutralize the carbon created by burning alcohol for fuel.
7. In Brazil, over 50% of new cars sold can already run on 100% alcohol.
8. Producing alcohol from plant material is incredibly energy efficient.
9. The oil companies aggressively promote garbage science to deceive the public into believing that alcohol fuels: a) will cause starvation, b) are uneconomical, and c) are net polluters.
10. Gasoline is a high toxic material.
11. It is entirely unneeded to fuel our cars.
12. Oil companies like Chevron have pressured PBS, commercial TV networks and other news media to keep this basic information from the public for decades - and the censorship continues to this day.
We don't need gasoline - we never did

It was a revised report (hadn't been updated since '95) on how much oil was in this area of the western 2/3 of North Dakota, western South Dakota, and extreme eastern Montana...
The Bakken is the largest domestic oil discovery since Alaska 's Prudhoe Bay, and has the potential to eliminate all American dependence on foreign oil. The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels. Even if just 10% of the oil is recoverable...at $107 a barrel, we're looking at a resource base worth more than $5.3 trillion.

North Dakota and Montana have an estimated 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil in an area known as the Bakken Formation.

A study published in Science Magazine today presents new evidence supporting the abiotic theory for the origin of oil, which asserts oil is a natural product the Earth generates constantly rather than a "fossil fuel" derived from decaying ancient forests and dead dinosaurs.
The lead scientist on the study ? Giora Proskurowski of the School of Oceanography at the University of Washington in Seattle ? says the hydrogen-rich fluids venting at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in the Lost City Hydrothermal Field were produced by the abiotic synthesis of hydrocarbons in the mantle of the earth.
The abiotic theory of the origin of oil directly challenges the conventional scientific theory that hydrocarbons are organic in nature, created by the deterioration of biological material deposited millions of years ago in sedimentary rock and converted to hydrocarbons under intense heat and pressure.
While organic theorists have posited that the material required to produce hydrocarbons in sedimentary rock came from dinosaurs and ancient forests, more recent argument have suggested living organisms as small as plankton may have been the origin.
